Kaytie & Jamie

Kaytie & Jamie — Vow Renewal at Pasut Beach, Bali

They came to Bali for a holiday. Somewhere between landing and settling in, they decided they wanted to say it again.

Kaytie messaged Mira a few days out. Could we arrange a vow renewal? Just something small. A celebrant, a good spot, the two of them and two of their closest friends. Mira said yes, and we got to work.

We chose Pasut Beach in Tabanan — a stretch of black sand backed by tall coconut palms, quiet enough to feel private, wide enough to disappear into. We found a spot under the palms where the grass meets the sand, with the Indian Ocean stretched out behind them. The ceremony was short and real. Their two friends stood off to the side. The celebrant read the words. Kaytie and Jamie held hands and looked at each other the way people do when they’ve already been through enough together to mean it.

After the ceremony, we moved. That’s the thing about a small day like this — there’s no schedule, no vendor timeline, no pressure. We just walked. The old villa walls made for something unexpected. The palms gave us light and shade and that particular Bali green you can’t fake. By the time we reached the beach, the sun had started to drop, and the sky went gold and then amber and then that flat grey-blue that comes just before the colour disappears.

Somewhere in the middle of all of it, Kaytie had an idea. She asked if they could ride a scooter on the beach. We said yes — the video team happened to have their NMAX right there. She climbed on behind Jamie, veil and all, both of them in sunglasses, and they rode along the waterline while we ran alongside shooting. It wasn’t planned. It was the best part of the day.

That’s what a two-hour session can look like when the couple knows exactly who they are. No fuss. No performance. Just two people who wanted to mark something real, in a place they love, with the people they chose to bring.
