Cultural Portrait by Luxima
A portrait is not only about how it looks, but how it lingers.
This work explores character, presence, and emotion through a quiet and intentional approach. Rather than adding more, the focus is on refining what already exists—subtle gestures, natural expression, and the space between moments.
Developed through several sessions and workshops in collaboration with Fujifilm, this body of work reflects a consistent pursuit of simplicity and depth. The use of medium format, particularly the Fujifilm GFX 100S II, allows each frame to carry a stronger sense of texture and tonal richness.
Some of the works have received international recognition, including a feature by Fujifilm Italia through their #fujifollowme platform.
Part of this work sits within our portrait photography in Bali, focusing on cultural elements and refined visual storytelling.

A Study in Detail and Presence
This series explores portrait through detail, layering, and subtle composition. Rather than building complexity, the focus is placed on refining what already exists—gestures, textures, and the quiet interaction between subjects.
There is a sense of stillness within these images, yet each frame holds a quiet strength. Cultural elements are present, not as decoration, but as an extension of character—adding depth without overwhelming the subject.
This approach allows each portrait to feel intentional, where every detail contributes to a more immersive and refined visual experience.
A Quiet Study of Beauty and Form
This series continues the exploration through a more restrained and delicate approach.
Created in collaboration with Indira Laksmi, the process focused on simplicity, natural movement, and minimal direction. The intention was to create portraits that feel calm, balanced, and quietly expressive.
Beauty here is found in restraint. Soft gestures, controlled compositions, and subtle details come together to form images that feel effortless, yet considered.
Cultural elements remain present as a quiet foundation—supporting the image without taking attention away from the subject.
Kartini — A Study of Strength and Grace
Inspired by Kartini, this series is a reflection of strength expressed through calmness and grace.
Rather than a direct representation, the approach is interpretative—capturing a feeling rather than a form. There is a balance between softness and resilience, where each expression carries a quiet intensity.
The composition remains simple and controlled, allowing space for the subject to exist naturally. Cultural elements enhance the narrative, but never dominate it.
This series becomes a study of femininity, presence, and the strength that exists in subtlety.
