Kaylene & Ben — An Early Morning Elopement at Melasti Beach, Bali, with the Kids Somehow Awake at 7am.
Nobody warned the children that this would be an early morning.
Kaylene and Ben chose Melasti at sunrise — just the two of them, their kids, a floral arch, and two hours before the beach belonged to anyone else. It was a family elopement in the truest sense. No big production. No guest list. Just the people who mattered most, standing barefoot on the sand while the officiant spoke.
The morning started with clouds. Thick ones, the kind that make you quietly reconsider outdoor ceremonies. Then, without drama, the sky opened. The light came through clean and warm, and everything shifted.
We moved through the whole beach in two hours — ceremony at the shoreline, portraits under the arch, family frames with the kids, couple portraits through the canyon. Melasti in the early morning is a different place. The crowds haven’t arrived yet. The tide is still low. There’s a stillness to it that you don’t get at any other hour.
Kaylene wore a backless lace dress. Ben wore grey. The flower crown on their daughter was slightly crooked by the end. That detail made it.
